Ground Turkey Cabbage Skillet
As a busy toddler mom I like quick and easy recipes. Ground Turkey Cabbage Skillet is such a family-friendly ground turkey recipe when you need a nourishing, filling and delicious dinner, but you don’t really have time to cook.
What I love about this recipe is that you can eat it as a meal with or without a side dish. It has become a quick favorite in our house served with quinoa on the side. I also treat it like a nutritious snack and roll the left-overs in a tortilla.
This recipe is also really good to freeze for another day. Enjoy!
How do you know when ground turkey is done?
You should avoid cooking the ground turkey too long because it may become very dry. You’ll know when the ground turkey is cooked thoroughly when it turns white with no pink color.
Can you substitute ground turkey for ground beef?
Absolutely. Just keep in mind that lean ground turkey per ounce is lower in calories and saturated fat than ground beef. However, this recipe will be good with either ground turkey or ground beef.
Why you should buy organic ground turkey?
About 80% of the antibiotics sold in the U.S. are used in industrially produced livestock. If you want to avoid a turkey raised with antibiotic, you should read labels carefully! Only the USDA Organic label guarantees that a bird didn’t receive antibiotics. Don’t believe in claims “all natural” and “raised without hormones or steroids.” Neither has to do with whether the animals received antibiotics. On meat and poultry, “natural” just means minimally processed without any artificial ingredients. It does not mean organic or no antibiotics. Hormones and steroids are prohibited in turkey production, so a turkey that carries the claim is not necessarily a better choice than one without it.
